Working on my back in the 90's F with 80% RH minimum is not fun.

90% of late 60's era wiring removed/replaced. This was non-polarized "bell" wire, the LED navigation lights, cabin lights and USB charge ports require polarized power. "Bell" wire may be used, after-all it worked for more than 50 years but it is a 50/50 guess for LED lights.

The stern light wire, "non-polarized bell wire" will just have to stay in place. It will not come loose inside the stern pulpit and I cannot get a new wire in without removing the existing. The existing wire has electrical continuity but the base of the existing stern light is not salvageable, so a new LED stern light has been ordered. This little problem took me three days of lying on my back in 90 F plus temperatures and 80% plus RH before I finally realized replacement was the optimal choice.

New stern light and mounting plate. Double block of PVC trim with hole to accomodate wire connection. The stern pulpit rail is too small to fit the connection to the existing wire.
2021-08-14New stern light installed
